The SEAT Leon ST has been voted Family Car of the Year 2014 by the Car and Driver and Crecer Feliz magazines in Spain. This latest award is proof of the enormous popularity of the Spanish compact’s new family-oriented body styling among the public and the press. SEAT Spain director Mikel Palomera accepted the award at a ceremony held at the Hotel Palace in Madrid.
The distinction was awarded to the SEAT Leon ST after readers of the Car and Driver and Crecer Feliz monthlies, which both belong to Hearst Magazines, favourably rated its spaciousness, the technological innovations it features, and the load capacity of its roomy, well-shaped boot, which extends from 587 litres to 1,470 litres with the rear seat backrests folded.
After careful consideration, the new Leon ST outshone its 11 other rivals, namely the Audi A6 Allroad, Citroën C4 Picasso, Fiat 500L Living, Ford Kuga, Honda CR-V, Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake, Opel Zafira Tourer, Peugeot 5008, Skoda Superb Combi, Ssangyong Rodius, and the Volkswagen Golf Variant.
This is the second time that SEAT has received the Family Car of the Year award, after the SEAT Alhambra 4 won it in 2012. This is another great success for the Leon range, which continues to accumulate prizes both in Spain and in the rest of Europe. It is not surprising that the new SEAT Leon has conquered a leading position within its segment, with its attractive range that comprises three body styles for the first time in its history – a five-door, the three-door SC and the recently launched family estate ST version.
