Audi is right at the forefront of developments in piloted driving.Audi is right at the forefront of developments in piloted driving – including in the eyes of the media. The editorial teams of the magazines Auto Bild and Computer Bild have now chosen the brand with the four rings as winner of their Pioneer Award in recognition of its piloted driving technology.

The premium manufacturer redefines the benchmark when it comes to its cars’ connectivity. Audi emerged from the reader poll for the “Connected Car Award”, sponsored by Auto Bild and Computer Bild, with three awards – more than any other manufacturer. In this competition, staged for the first time in 2013, the readers considered all aspects of a car’s connectivity – such as its Internet connectivity and how the navigation system works. Another area is assistance systems, which make driving safer and more convenient. The readers of Auto Bild and Computer Bild were able to vote in eight different categories. Following the counting of approximately 320,000 votes, Audi emerged as the clear winner. The brand with the four rings won three categories.

In the Telephone category readers rated Audi phone box, which conveniently pairs a mobile phone with the car, as the best technology. For Navigation, the map display with Google Earth images was voted best. In the Internet category, the participating readers chose the combination of LTE and Wi-Fi as their preferred technology – the high-speed mobile communications standard delivers high data volumes to the car, and the Wi-Fi hotspot transfers them to mobile devices.

“We are obviously delighted at our success in the Connected Car Award,” commented Ricky Hudi, Head of Development Electrics/Electronics at Audi. “We have put a lot of hard work into this area in recent years. I would like to thank everyone who has been involved. Such an award is both a motivation and an encouragement to come up with yet more pioneering technological achievements.” The awards ceremony will take place in early January at the International CES in Las Vegas, Nevada.
