Nissan: Nissan production, sales and export results for January 2016

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for January 2016.

1. Production
Nissan’s global production in January decreased 0.5 percent year-on-year to 437,086 units, the first decrease in nine months.

Production in Japan decreased 21.8 percent year-on-year to 65,416 units, the second consecutive month of decrease.

Production outside Japan increased 4.5 percent year-on-year to 371,670 units, the ninth consecutive month of increase and a record for the month of January.

In the U.S., production increased 13.5 percent year-on-year to 81,942 units, a record for the month of January.

In Mexico, production increased 3.2 percent year-on-year to 71,468 units, a record for the month of January.

In the U.K., production decreased 5.7 percent year-on-year to 39,705 units.

In Spain, production decreased 19.4 percent year-on-year to 9,103 units.

In China, production increased 6.4 percent year-on-year to 106,784 units.

Production in other regions increased 3.6 percent year-on-year to 62,668 units.

2. Sales
Global sales decreased 0.4 percent year-on-year to 446,119 units, the first decrease in two months.

Japan:

  • Sales including mini-vehicles decreased 11.2 percent year-on-year to 50,507 units, the 20th consecutive month of decrease.
  • Vehicle registrations decreased 4.7 percent year-on-year to 32,329 units.
  • Mini-vehicle sales decreased 20.7 percent year-on-year to 18,178 units.

Sales outside Japan increased 1.2 percent year-on-year to 395,612 units, the ninth consecutive month of increase and a record for the month of January.

In the U.S., sales increased 1.6 percent year-on-year to 105,734 units, a record for the month of January.

In Mexico, sales increased 11.7 percent year-on-year to 30,727 units, a record for the month of January.

In Europe, sales decreased 14.3 percent year-on-year to 52,664 units.

In China, sales increased 9.4 percent year-on-year to 127,306 units, a record for the month of January.

Sales in other regions decreased 4.9 percent year-on-year to 70,622 units.

3. Exports from Japan
Exports in January decreased 28.3 percent year-on-year to 33,166 units, the second consecutive month of decrease.
