RICHMOND HILL, ON, Jan. 5, 2016 /CNW/ – Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) today reported December sales of 4,852 vehicles, an increase of 20.3 percent versus December 2014 and the best December since 2011. The company also reported calendar year (CY) 2015 total sales in Canada of 71,709, down 0.5 percent from 2014.
Key December and CY2015 sales notes:
- Mazda Canada reported sales of 4,852 in December 2015. This represents an increase of 20.3 percent year-over-year (YOY), and is the best December sales since 2011.
- MCI’s best-selling model continues to be the Mazda3, with 2,078 vehicles sold in December. Full-year sales for the Mazda3 were 34,811, down 15.0 percent versus 2014.
- Mazda CX-5 had its best December sales ever with 1,714 vehicles sold. YOY, CX-5 sales were up 27.2 percent (1,347 vehicles sold in December 2014). CY2015 was the first time CX-5 eclipsed more than 20,000 (22,281) sales and it was the second best-selling Mazda in the Canada for the CY.
- Mazda’s all-new CX-3 sold 687 vehicles in December. Since going on sale in May, the CX-3 has sold 6,861 vehicles and takes over the third spot for best sales from the Mazda5 in 2014.
- With the addition of the CX-3, Mazda’s line of CX crossover vehicles have continued a strong growth trend, with sales increasing by 69.5 percent in December, and closing out the year up by 41.1 percent over 2014.
- Continued sales success of the all-new 2016 MX-5 resulted in the best December since 2007, with 28 vehicles sold representing an increase of 300.0 percent YOY. The 2016 MX-5 launched in July. Total CY2015 sales were 630 which is an increase of 23.3 percent YTD, and the best full-year sales since 2010.
- As the company’s sixth-generation of vehicle sales grow so does SKYACTIV Technology. Mazda’s no-compromise solution to driving performance and fuel efficiency has proven to be an affordable and beneficial solution for consumers. In December 2015, 95.4 percent of Mazdas sold in Canada were equipped with SKYACTIV Technology.
