In 1924 Christian Werner won the Targa Florio, an exacting road race across Sicily, in this supercharged racing car. He was helped by its red paintwork, which was more typical of Italian racing cars. Seeing a red car approaching, the local motorsport fans would stay out of the way – unlike when the German and French competitors came along in their white and blue machines.
