GM Canada Sales Grow More Than 24 Per Cent in January 2016

Oshawa, Ontario (February 2, 2016) — Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers delivered 14,395 vehicles in January 2016, an increase of 24 per cent. GM’s retail sales increased 21 per cent for the month.
John Roth, vice president, sales, service and marketing for GM Canada said, “2016 is off to a strong start for GM Canada, with record performances for our brands. We are excited to be riding this momentum into the Canadian International Auto Show, which kicks off a year of nine launches across our Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac cars, trucks and crossovers.”
Roth added, “Cadillac continues to break ground in the luxury market with its best retail sales month in the brand’s history. Later this year with the launch of the all-new CT6, we will bring customers a prestige sedan with the integration of new technologies developed to achieve dynamic performance, efficiency and agility previously unseen in large luxury cars.”
January 2016 Brand Sales Highlights:
- Chevrolet sales are up 24 per cent for the month with cars increasing 18 per cent (the all-new Malibu up 65 per cent and the all-new Volt up 34 per cent). Chevrolet crossovers are up 16 per cent driven by sales of the Canadian-built Equinox (up 13 per cent). Chevrolet pickup sales increased by 29 per cent for the month (Colorado up 28 per cent, Silverado up 11 per cent)
- Buick car sales are up 3 per cent for the month driven by sales of the Verano (up 20 per cent)
- GMC sales increased 28 per cent in January, marking the 19th consecutive month of growth, led by sales of the Sierra (up 27 per cent)
- Cadillac sales are up 45 per cent, marking 6 months of consecutive growth, driven by sales of the ATS (up 115 per cent) and CTS (up 73 per cent)
Data is not adjusted for the difference in selling days January 2016 had 24 selling days and January 2015 had 26 selling days.
