There’s no hiding it, I’m a vintage kind of girl. I love old things that tell a story and even bring back childhood memories. Or worse, make me long for an era I didn’t even live through!
But when I hear “vintage car accessories,” my nostalgia changes to… chuckles!
Our Top 5
The Ford Blog is pleased to share its list of car accessories that didn’t survive the test of time! Maybe you remember them, or, for the young among us, can you believe they ever existed?
5. The automatic seatbelt
Wasn’t it funny? Seatbelts that slid along their track, but you still had to pull on it to get it to buckle. And even better, sometimes the seatbelt was already down and you had to slide under it to buckle in. Weird.
4. Pop-up headlights
Headlights weren’t considered “good looking” at the time, so they were hidden. Need lights? Lift a little door, like a garage. But in cold weather, what if the headlight froze shut? Not very practical!
3. Rumble seat
In old Fords, an extra seat outside the vehicle could pop out for an extra passenger. For someone you didn’t like maybe?
2. The cassette deck
Fast forward, rewind, fix the ribbon with a pencil. Remember? I do!
1. The horse
You know, those animals that draw carriages? Now that’s vintage!
What vintage accessory do you remember? We’d really like to hear about it in the comments section. Thanks!
