I couldn’t be at the various fashion shows going on around the world, but there was no better alternative than attending a VIP trunk show with some of Canada’s best designers.

Elle Canada and Ford hosted an evening suitably dubbed “Fashioniesta,” to celebrate the 2014 Ford Fiesta and, well, fashion!

Panel Discussion

The Fermenting Cellar, located in Toronto’s Distillery District, was buzzing upon our arrival. There was Kay in her DJ booth spinning the sweet sound of Solange’s “Losing You”; designers had set up shop all over the room, cleverly showcasing some of their best pieces in the trunks of Ford Fiestas; and Maybelline New York was giving mini-makeovers, which led to the subsequent line of people eager to take their picture for the cover of Elle Canada.

Later in the evening, Elle’s editor-in-chief, Noreen Flanagan took the stage to welcome everyone and begin a short panel discussion with the designers. The panelists (Shay Lowe, Ron White, Danielle Martin (one half of Martin Lim) and Lucian Matis) answered questions that were posed with the underlying tone of “driving” and “arriving at a destination.” I think it was a refreshing way to have a discussion with fashion designers and incorporate the theme of the night – the Ford Fiesta!

After the panel, party-goers raced to the designers’ booths to take a closer look at their pieces and inevitably learn more about them and their collections. As for me, I made my way over to the dessert table where I indulged in cake pops and cookies!
