WorldSkills Competition cooperation agreement signed
Volkswagen Service Deutschland supports the WorldSkills 2013 Competition. The cooperation agreement with the event organizer WorldSkills International was signed yesterday. Volkswagen Service Deutschland will be supporting the competition in the car painting (body painter) and automobile technology (motor vehicle mechatronics technician) categories. WorldSkills takes place at the Leipzig Trade Fair exhibition center from July 2 – 7.
Arno Kalmbach, Head of Volkswagen Service Deutschland, was a contract signatory. Commenting on this commitment by Volkswagen Service Deutschland, Kalmbach said: “Inspiring young people for vocational training and strengthening the reputation of crafts and apprenticeships is an essential task for the entire automobile industry.” He continued: “It is important to demonstrate to young people that qualified vocational training safeguards the future. In this context, our service partners offer a diverse spectrum of opportunities.”
Volkswagen Service Deutschland supports the competition for body painters and motor vehicle mechatronics technicians which takes place in Hall 5. In cooperation with workshop outfitters and suppliers the automobile manufacturer will be equipping these two competition categories with tools, workshop equipment, assemblies and Volkswagen Genuine Parts. Participants and visitors will also have the opportunity to find out more about Human Resources at Volkswagen and about the “Think Blue.” sustainability initiative at a 250 square meter stand.
WorldSkills is taking place for the 42nd time this year and is held every other year. This year, some 1,000 young people from 65 countries and regions representing 46 trades from industry, crafts and services will be competing against each other. The patron of this year’s WorldSkills Competition is German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
