New PassatVolkswagen will be presenting the new Passat to international Volkswagen dealers and European sales staff at the “Passat Experience” event which begins at Costa Navarino in the Messenia region, Greece, on October 6, 2014. Some 22 million of this bestselling model have already been sold worldwide, and the eighth generation makes its debut this year. One of the key themes during the nine-week event will be the new innovative assistance and safety systems that feature in this successful model.

“The Passat has always been a symbol of technical progress. And now the eighth generation of the vehicle brings together the most advanced technologies of our time, setting a new benchmark in its class. This congress will reveal to our partners just how innovative and efficient our bestseller is”, Xavier Chardon, Head of Marketing at the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, said. The participants can look forward to a richly varied and informative program covering all aspects of the assistance, infotainment, comfort and drive systems in the new Passat. They will also have the opportunity for extensive test drives, putting more than 200 Passat with a range of engine and equipment configurations through their paces. In addition to workshops providing sales staff with detailed information on the vehicle, Volkswagen dealers will also be given an insight into the future market and brand strategy for their respective country. The event is being held during the nine-week period from October 6 to December 4. A total of some 20,000 guests are expected, making this congress Volkswagen’s largest dealer event ever.

“The event in the Messenia region is a commitment to Greece, to our local partners and the people there”, Anders-Sundt Jensen, Head of Marketing Communications at the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, explained. He went on to say this major event was also an economic stimulus for the region. Local partners in particular have been involved in the organization and several hotels have extended their season. Great care was also taken in selecting the location: “In the spirit of ‘Think Blue.’, the hotel we have chosen for this event in Greece is deeply committed to sustainable and ecological responsibility”, Jensen said. The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino, was recognized with the EHMA Sustainability Award by Diversey Care in 2013 and awarded the Green Key 2013 eco-label which honors commitment to the environment and the implementation of ecologically sustainable projects in the hotel industry.
