Construction of the new Volkswagen vehicle plant in Qingdao, East China, kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony held today in the coastal city of Shandong province.
The joint venture FAW-Volkswagen will build a factory to produce 300,000 sedans and SUVs a year when completed three years later.
Prof. Dr. Jochem Heizmann, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG with responsibility for “China” and President and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, Xu Jianyi, Chairman of FAW Group, government officials of the Qingdao city, laid foundation for the new vehicle plant.
