Tragic accident overshadows race in the Superstock class.

Munich. The seventh round of the 2017 British Superbike
Championship (BSB) in Thruxton (GBR) was overshadowed by a fatal
accident in the Superstock class. The BMW Motorrad Motorsport
community mourns the loss of Mark Fincham (GBR), who competed at
Thruxton with team True Heroes Racing.

Fincham’s tragic accident happened in the second Superstock race on
Sunday. He was immediately treated by the BSB medical staff but
succumbed to his injuries. BMW Motorrad Motorsport’s thoughts are with
his family, friends and team at this difficult time. After this sad
news, the sporting aspects of the weekend pale into insignificance for
the BMW racing family.

In the Superbike class races, Peter Hickman (GBR / Smiths Racing BMW)
had claimed one victory and one second place at Thruxton. In the
Superstock class, Michael Rutter (GBR / Bathams SMT Racing) and Adam
Jenkinson (GBR / Northern Escalator Installations) scored podium finishes.
