The ABC Award for Best Car of the Year 2014 The SEAT Leon has been distinguished with one of the automotive sector’s most prestigious awards in Spain – the ABC Award for Best Car of the Year 2014. The decision was made by the 34 members of the panel, made up entirely of motor trade press specialists, who delivered high scores for the attractive design, efficiency, technology and excellent quality-price ratio of the Spanish brand’s new compact. This latest award is especially relevant for the company, as the last time a SEAT model walked away with it was in 1986, when the SEAT Malaga was chosen.

SEAT Spain director Mikel Palomera said “it is a great honour to receive this prestigious award for the new Leon, a model that perfectly embodies all the SEAT brand values with its design, character and dynamism. The Leon is a fully home-grown product and we are especially proud that the jury members have chosen a model made in Spain using the highest technology and that already boasts a solid sales record in Spain and the rest of Europe”.

The new Leon is playing a key role in bolstering the success of SEAT and has become the brand’s second pillar alongside the Ibiza. So far this year, SEAT has delivered more than 80,000 units of the new Leon worldwide and sales of the model in Spain have increased by more than 17% over the same period in 2012.

SEAT has invested 800 million euros on this exceptional product, which has been wholly designed, developed and manufactured in Spain. It is arguably the best standard bearer of SEAT’s rational and emotional values.
