Solution for lower fuel consumption and thereby reduced carbon footprint
Czech-based HOPI, a major logistics company in Central Europe, has renewed its fleet with 108 Scania trucks. The new Scania Streamline trucks are being delivered according to the Ecolution by Scania product and service solution for lower fuel consumption and thereby reduced carbon footprint.
This is one of Scania’s largest single orders for Ecolution by Scania and by far the largest in Central Europe. The 108 ordered vehicles have been delivered to HOPI’s operations in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia.
Ecolution by Scania is a toolbox that helps customers dramatically reduce costs and CO2emissions while enhancing road safety. In operations throughout Europe, transporters have benefitted from up to 16 percent in fuel savings. Components include carbon-optimised vehicle specifications, driver training, feedback through Scania Fleet Management on real-time environmental performance and a maintenance agreement. Within the scope of this programme, HOPI drivers will be continuously trained to ensure that fuel consumption is as low as possible.
The trucks were delivered during the end of 2013. Most of the trucks are Euro 5, but HOPI also ordered 10 Euro 6 trucks to evaluate the new greener and fuel-saving technology. The Euro 6 higher emission standard entered into force on 1 January 2014. “We will test these vehicles in our operations in preparation for a similar upgrade during the second half of 2014,” says Eduard Šneidar, HOPI’s Transport Director. “I’m firmly convinced that our Euro 6 test results will convince us to continue our cooperation with Scania.”
