Roberto Cortes awarded German-Brazilian personality prize

The São Paulo German-Brazilian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce have awarded the Brazilian Personality Prize. This year’s winners are Dr. Reinhold Festge on the German side and Antonio Roberto Cortes on the Brazilian one. The event was hosted by the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

Brazilian prizewinner Antonio Roberto Cortes is President of MAN Latin America and a member of the MAN SE Management Board. Cortes was jointly responsible for the introduction of the pioneering and innovative Consórcio Modular system in which key suppliers are directly involved in assembly of the commercial vehicle and work together under one roof at MAN’s Resende factory in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

“I am very close to the suppliers and I know all the authorized dealers personally – over 300 in Latin America. Good relationships are part of our DNA and an important factor for both this award and MAN’s market position,” emphasizes Cortes.

The award was established in 1995 by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (the DIHK) together with the São Paulo German-Brazilian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. It singles out two personalities every year – one from each country – whose work and commitment have helped to strengthen bilateral relations.

“In awarding the 20th German-Brazilian personality prize, we are strengthening the established partnership and cooperation between both countries. Antonio Cortes and Dr. Reinhold Festge have been named the German-Brazilian personalities of 2014. On behalf of the German-Brazilian business world, I would like to express our admiration and recognition of their work,” congratulated Thomas Schmall, President of the German-Brazilian Industry of Chamber and Commerce.
