Porsche Celebrates the 25th Anniversary of Porsche Exclusive

Company’s Museum Opens Special Limited-Time Exhibit

Stuttgart/Atlanta, March 4, 2011-Twenty five years ago, Porsche became the world’s first car manufacturer to create a special personal customization department at its factory. The program, called Porsche Exclusive, allows Porsche customers to fulfill their unique wishes and get a car from the factory with just about any personal detail and refinement they want.

To celebrate this silver anniversary, the Porsche Museum at the companys headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany will be showcasing the special skills and craftsmanship that make the Exclusive program so unique and fascinating. This special exhibit is called 25 years of Porsche Exclusive and will run through May 1st of this year.

Over the years, Porsche Exclusive has built upon the company’s reputation of offering exclusivity, individuality and unmatched craftsmanship. Customers can tell the factory exactly what they want, including everything from a one-of-a-kind color, a favorite interior material, or a special SportsDesign exhaust system. Basically, the Porsche customer can ask for almost any personal touch and Porsche will do its utmost to create it—provided, of course, that it is technically feasible and does not compromise the vehicle’s quality.

Visitors to the museum during this exhibit will be able to see some of company’s most unique and rare special models, including the Porsche 911 Turbo S 3.6, which in 1997 was the first Porsche series production sports car to break the 186 mph (300 km/h) barrier. Also on display is one of only two Porsche 911 Speedsters in the world dating from 1995. A very interesting highlight of the special exhibition is a gold colored Porsche 959 that was once extensively modified for a member of an Arab royal family, which features, among other things, gold plated tailpipes. Visitors can also view present day Exclusive special models, such as the Porsche 911 Speedster a homage to the legendary 356 Speedster, which entered the annals of automotive history as the dream car of the 1950s.

The Porsche Museum is using this anniversary exhibition as an opportunity to extend its tour program. Visitors have the opportunity of experiencing the special exhibi as part of a short 30-minute guided tour at a cost of just four Euros. Also, the museums shop will be offering special new items for sale, including a book called 25 years of Porsche Exclusive that dedicates over 200 pages to the topic of “Ex works individuality”. This new book features the most interesting, beautiful and spectacular vehicle projects from Porsche, ranging from the customized Porsche 356 via the legendary 911 Turbo slant nose to the high-end 911 built to personal specification for royal customers in the Middle East. The book is available in German and English from the Porsche Museum shop for 14.90 Euros.

In addition to exclusive model cars and key rings, the museum shop also offers a grill badge, newly produced in metal, that can be affixed to the air intake grill on historic Porsche models.
