Mississauga, Ont. – Two very different Nissan vehicles will grace the stage at the 2018 Montreal International Auto Show (MIAS) – the new Nissan LEAF electric vehicle and Nissan Kicks crossover. While press day at the 2018 MIAS is the national debut for both LEAF and Kicks, the two vehicles will be available at Nissan Canada dealerships soon: February and June respectively.
“The Nissan booth at the next Montreal Auto Show will be our most diverse one to-date, capitalized by our two show debuts – the Nissan LEAF and Nissan Kicks,” says Joni Paiva, president of Nissan Canada. “Kicks joins Nissan’s all-star crossover lineup, but stands out from the crowd with bold style, personal technology, value and anticipated excellent fuel economy.”
The brand-new Nissan Kicks becomes the newest entry in the fast-growing affordable compact crossover market when it hits Nissan Canada dealerships in June 2018.
As the gateway to Nissan’s adventure-ready sport utility line-up – joining Qashqai, Rogue, Murano, Pathfinder and Armada – Kicks is designed to fit the needs of singles or couples looking for unique styling, roominess, personal technology, smart functionality and advanced safety features at an affordable price.
The Kicks embodies Nissan Intelligent Mobility with standard Automatic Emergency Braking with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and available Intelligent Around View® Monitor1 equipped with Moving Object Detection (MOD).
Every 2018 Kicks comes with a standard 1.6-litre DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder with Continuous Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS). The engine is rated at 125 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque.
“We welcome more and more electric vehicles into the competitive landscape, and yet we remain proud to remind show-goers of Nissan’s leadership in the EV space. We’ll do this with the latest version of the first electric vehicle for the masses, the Nissan LEAF. Just as we revolutionized the world with the LEAF in 2011, again we are changing the way people drive with the 2018 Nissan LEAF, which offers more range, more power, and autonomous drive features in ProPILOT Assist, and e-Pedal.”
The Nissan LEAF’s new lithium-ion battery pack delivers an estimated range of 242 kilometres2, and its new e-powertrain delivers an exhilarating, linear driving performance with a power output of 147 horsepower, 40 per cent more than the previous-generation LEAF. Torque has been increased 26 per cent to 236 lb-ft, resulting in improved acceleration.
The all-new 2018 Nissan LEAF sets a new standard in the growing market for mainstream electric vehicles – offering greater range, advanced technologies such as ProPILOT Assist and e-Pedal, and a dynamic new design. Nissan LEAF continues to be the best-selling 100 per cent electric vehicle the world.
