Nissan: Nissan Production, Sales and Export Results for October 2013

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Corporation has announced its production, sales and export figures for October 2013.

1. Production
Nissan’s global production in October increased 13.3% year-on-year to 465,494 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October.

Production in Japan was down 19.4% year-on-year to 81,274 units, mainly due to decreased volume caused by the change in production location of Rogue for export to North America.

Production outside of Japan increased 23.9% year-on-year to 384,220 units, marking an all-time record.

In the U.S., production increased 30.0% year-on-year to 78,737 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October. This was mainly due to increased demand for the new Rogue, Sentra and Nissan LEAF, as well as the lower volume in October 2012 caused by the preparation to transfer production of some models.

In Mexico, production increased 0.1% year-on-year to 65,878 units, marking an all-time record.

In the U.K., production increased 5.0% year-on-year to 52,407 units, mainly due to the increased demand for the new Note, marking an all-time record.

In Spain, production decreased 16.6% year-on-year to 11,412 units.

In China, production was 118,179 units, a significant year-on-year increase of 139.7%. This was mainly due to increased demand for the Sylphy series and Qashqai, and is an all-time record for the month of October.

Production in other regions decreased 2.1% year-on-year to 57,607 units.

2. Sales
Global sales increased 21.0% year-on-year to 413,971 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 51,058 units in Japan, up 14.7% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in October decreased 2.2% year-on-year to 33,990 units.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan increased 74.7% year-on-year to 17,068 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October. This is mainly attributable to strong sales of the new DAYZ, which went on sale on June.

Sales outside of Japan increased 22.0 % year-on-year to 362,913 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October.

Sales in the U.S. increased 14.2% year-on-year to 91,018 units, mainly due to higher demand for Rogue, Pathfinder, and Sentra, marking an all-time record for the month of October.

Sales in Mexico increased 8.0% year-on-year to 21,860 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October. This has made Nissan the sales leader in Mexico for 53 consecutive months.

In Europe, sales increased 6.6% year-on-year to 54,519 units, mainly due to increased sales of the new Note and the updated Micra.

In China, sales increased 127.8% year-on-year to 114,700 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Sylphy series and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for the month of October.

Sales in other regions decreased 4.6% year-on-year to 72,258 units.

3. Japan Exports
Nissan’s exports in October decreased 14.4% year-on-year to 49,774 units.

Exports to North America decreased 11.5% year-on-year to 35,448 units.
