Nissan: Nissan production, sales and export results for December 2014 and calendar year 2014

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for December 2014 and calendar year 2014.

1. Production
December
Nissan’s global production in December increased 3.3% year-on-year to 409,428 units, marking a record high for the month of December.

Production in Japan decreased 8.8% year-on-year to 75,261 units.

Production outside of Japan increased 6.5% year-on-year to 334,167 units, marking a record high for the month of December.

In the U.S., production increased 17.4% year-on-year to 67,673 units, mainly due to an increase in production for the new Murano and an increase in production volume for the Rogue, marking a record high for the month of December.

In Mexico, production increased 38.6% year-on-year to 53,477 units, mainly due to an increase in production volume for the Sentra, marking a record high for December.

In the U.K., production increased 23.3% year-on-year to 34,149 units, mainly due to an increase in production volume for the Qashqai.

In Spain, production increased 3.7% year-on-year to 8,483 units.

In China, production fell 16.7% year-on-year to 108,808 units.

Production in other regions was up 20.7% year-on-year to 61,577 units.

Calendar Year 2014
Nissan’s global production in 2014 increased 3.0% year-on-year to 5,097,772 units, achieving an all-time calendar year record.

Production in Japan declined 8.7% year-on-year to 880,887 units.

Production outside of Japan increased 5.8% year-on-year to 4,216,885 units, marking a record high for a calendar year.

In the U.S., production rose 19.6% year-on-year to 947,558 units, marking a record high for a calendar year.

In Mexico, production increased 18.5% year-on-year to 805,967 units, marking a record high for a calendar year.

In the U.K., production declined 0.3% year-on-year to 500,238 units.

In Spain, production increased 7.0% year-on-year to 141,102 units.

In China, production fell 2.2% year-on-year to 1,175,575 units.

Production in other regions increased 2.1% year-on-year to 646,445 units.

2. Sales
December
Global sales increased 3.3% year-on-year to 474,704 units, marking a record high for December.

Sales in Japan, including mini-vehicles, declined 16.2% year-on-year to 38,718 units.

Vehicle registrations in Japan were down 22.4% year-on-year to 24,378 units.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan decreased 3.0% year-on-year to 14,340 units.

Sales outside of Japan were up 5.4% year-on-year to 435,986 units, marking a record high for December.

In the U.S., sales increased 6.9% year-on-year to 117,318 units, mainly due to an increase in sales volume for the Altima, Sentra, and Nissan LEAF, marking an all-time sales record for the month of December.

In Mexico, sales increased 22.2% year-on-year to 35,130 units, marking an all-time sales record for a single month, mainly due to higher sales volume for the new X-Trail and the March. Nissan has been the sales leader in Mexico for 67 consecutive months.

In Europe, sales increased 29.6% year-on-year to 72,508 units, marking an all-time high for the month of December. This was mainly due to a net increase in sales for the Datsun on-DO, and an increase in sales volume in Russia.

In China, sales declined 9.1% year-on-year to 121,904 units.

Sales in other regions increased 3.8% to 80,870 units.

Calendar Year 2014
Global sales increased 4.1% year-on-year to 5,310,064 units, marking an all-time calendar year record.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 670,263 units in Japan, a 1.3% year-on-year decline.

Vehicle registrations in Japan fell 13.0% year-on-year to 428,729 units.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan increased 29.9% year-on-year to 241,534 units, marking an all-time calendar year record.

Sales outside of Japan increased 4.9% year-on-year to 4,639,801 units, marking an all-time calendar year record.

In the U.S., sales increased 11.1% year-on-year to 1,386,895 units, marking an all-time calendar year record.

In Mexico, sales increased 10.9% year-on-year to 293,204 units, marking an all-time calendar year record.

In Europe, sales increased 13.4% year-on-year to 738,730 units, marking an all-time calendar year record.

In China, sales increased 0.5% year-on-year to 1,221,598 units.

Sales in other regions were down 2.0% year-on-year to 882,517 units.

3. Japan Exports
December
Nissan’s exports in December increased 20.3% year-on-year to 54,583 units.

Calendar Year 2014
Nissan’s exports decreased 12.9% year-on-year to 472,638 units.
