Nissan: Nissan production, sales and export results for August 2014

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for August 2014.

1. Production

Nissan’s global production in August decreased 7.0% year-on-year to 368,064 units.

Production in Japan decreased 20.7% year-on-year to 61,737 units.

Production outside of Japan decreased 3.7% year-on-year to 306,327 units.

In the U.S., production increased 13.5% year-on-year to 87,829 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Rogue, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

In Mexico, production increased 9.7% year-on-year to 70,273 units, mainly due to strong sales of the Sentra, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

In the U.K., production decreased 69.7% year-on-year to 11,669 units, mainly due to reduced operating days because of press shop machinery maintenance.

In Spain, production decreased 55.3% year-on-year to 2,372 units, mainly due to reduced operating days because the length of the summer holiday period was different compared to the previous summer.

In China, production was up 4.1% year-on-year to 91,791 units.

Production in other regions decreased 5.0% year-on-year to 42,393 units.

2. Sales

Global sales increased 3.0% year-on-year to 403,646 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 39,698 units in Japan, down 15.4% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in August decreased 21.0% year-on-year to 25,621 units.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan decreased 2.7% year-on-year to 14,077 units.

Sales outside of Japan increased 5.5% year-on-year to 363,948 units, marking an all-time sales record for the month of August.

Sales in the U.S. increased 11.5% year-on-year to 134,388 units, marking an all-time sales record for the month of August, mainly due to higher demand for the Versa, Sentra, Rogue and Nissan LEAF.

Sales in Mexico increased 19.6% year-on-year to 26,638 units, marking an all-time sales record for the month of August, mainly due to increased demand for the new X-Trail and March. Nissan has been the sales leader in Mexico for 63 consecutive months.

In Europe, sales increased 1.8% year-on-year to 39,156 units.

In China, even with strong sales of the new X-Trail, sales were down 0.7% year-on-year to 85,466 units, mainly due to sluggish demand for light commercial vehicles (LCV).

Sales in other regions decreased 2.8% year-on-year to 67,367 units.

3. Japan Exports

Nissan’s exports in August decreased 12.7% year-on-year to 38,711 units.
