MAZDA RELEASES FIRST TEASER VIDEOS OF ALL-NEW 2014 MAZDA6

Press Release

A Total of Five Global Teasers for Redesigned Mid-Size Sedan to Debut on YouTube

IRVINE, Calif. (July 12, 2012) – The all-new 2014 Mazda6 is here. Almost. Beginning this week and continuing throughout the month of July, Mazda Motor Corporation (MC) and its global affiliates will be releasing teaser spots of its redesigned mid-size sedan via YouTube.  Each video, none more than 20 seconds in length, will focus on different angles and features of the highly anticipated re-imagination of the Mazda6.  The final video, which will integrate the four craftily cropped initial videos, as well as additional images, will be released on July 25.

The first video, launched on July 10, introduces audiences to the Mazda6’s front fascia and head lamp.  Featuring Mazda’s new five-point grille and the expressive lines that embody the KODO “Soul of Motion” design language, the images of the vehicle fade in and out, tracing a soft light over sculpted lines of the Soul Red body.  At first glance, the Mazda6 could be mistaken for the TAKERI Concept, which made its North American debut the New York International Auto Show in early April.  Still sleek, still aggressive, still featuring a definitive chrome “signature wing” – except this is no concept.  While the front fascia may look like TAKERI’s identical twin, the front headlight appears more production believable than prototype fantasy.

The second video, to be launched on July 13, continues to trace the Mazda6’s expressively precise lines from its slanted headlights and chiseled hood, along its elegantly etched front fenders before ending at a defined A-pillar and swift-angled outside mirrors.

The 2014 Mazda6 will be Mazda’s second vehicle to fully encompass SKYACTIV®[1] TECHNOLOGY, the brand’s philosophy on innovative engineering toward developing fuel-efficient vehicles which do not compromise performance, dynamics or safety.  The 2012 Mazda3 was the first vehicle to showcase elements of SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY, with its SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine and choice of SKYACTIV transmissions, but the 2013 CX-5 was the first vehicle and global launch of the full suite of SKYACTIV technologies, including engines, transmissions, body and chassis components.

The all-new 2014 Mazda6 is expected to go on sale in early 2013.
