IRVINE, Calif., January 21, 2010 Kia Motors America (KMA) announced the first retail sale of a 2011 Sorento CUV built at Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG), will be presented to Chick-fil-A Founder and Chairman, S. Truett Cathy, during a ceremony at the Atlanta-based restaurant chains corporate headquarters on January 22.
The all-new Sorento, Kias first U.S.-built1 vehicle, marks a turning point for the brand and further solidifies Kias commitment to the U.S. market, said B.M. On behalf of the thousands of team members at KMA and KMMG, and our network of more than 670 dealers nationwide, we are honored that Chick-fil-A, one of Georgias most prestigious companies, will add the first retail Sorento to Cathys collection of displayed vehicles at its corporate headquarters.
While I am excited about adding this new Spicy Red Sorento to my collection of new and antique cars, I also am pleased to know that this manufacturing facility will help with the employment and economic growth in our region, said Cathy. And I cant wait to test it out with all its gadgets and special features, added the 88-year-old Cathy whose collection has grown to be one of the largest and varied in the country.
The 2011 Kia Sorento was named the Official Vehicle of the 2009 Chick-fil-A Bowl, which was held on New Years Eve in Atlanta. A great Bowl and a beautiful new car! What a terrific way to start off the year, said Cathy.
Completely redesigned for the 2011 model year, the all-new Sorento is a modern CUV that is just the right size for todays consumer. Sorento now employs a unibody design with the ability to comfortably fit up to seven passengers, offering more space and ride comfort than the previous-generation model, as well as easy handling. In addition to offering a comfortable ride, impressive technology features also come standard throughout, including an AM/FM/CD/MP3/Sat audio system with SIRIUS Satellite Radio capabilities and three months complimentary service2. Also standard on all models are auxiliary and USB audio input jacks for connecting personal MP3 players and Bluetooth3 wireless technology connectivity with steering wheel-mounted voice activation controls to enable hands-free operation for all compatible mobile phones. Available push button-start ignition with smart key, rear sonar back-up sensors, voice-activated navigation, rear view back-up cameras and air ionization purification technology complete the modern and high-tech driving experience.
