1. Get under the hood
First of all, park your car on level ground. Once you’ve popped the hood and affixed the prop rod, you’ll want to locate the dipstick—it should have an identifiable handle.
2. Double dip
Remove the stick, wipe it down then reinsert it again—the second time it’s removed, pay attention to the tip of the stick where you’ll find two points of measurement—MIN and MAX. The oil level will be indicated somewhere in between them if your engine is sufficiently-filled.
3. Top it up
If the oil seems low (and doesn’t reach the furthest point marked on the stick), reference your owner’s manual to ensure you’re using the correct oil before topping it off.
*If the oil is below the MIN mark, it’s time to pay a visit to your Ford dealer to check out the situation.
