INFINITI AT H2 ROMA, ITALY’S MAJOR GREEN EVENT ON ECO-MOBILITY TECHNOLOGIES
Infiniti will join the 10th edition of H2 Roma, the major event on eco-mobility in Italy, involving media, students and green technologies experts from the car industry. The event is run under the patronage of the President of the Italian Republic and of the main Italian Institutions and Universities (see www.h2roma.org).
It’s the right occasion for Infiniti to introduce the Infiniti M35h and the Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid Technology by participating in the scientific workshop held in Palazzo delle Fontane in Rome on Nov. 9th.
Infiniti M35h will be displayed inside the exhibition facilities, but also available for test drive session by the media and the public of the green show on both November 9th and 10th.
Available at Infiniti Centres throughout Europe since early September, the Infiniti M35h has already grabbed lots of attention by entering the Guinness World Record as the fastest accelerating full hybrid car (400m in just 13,9 seconds). It’s also the car that made Sebastian Vettel, the F1 world champion and global Infiniti ambassador, win the “M race” at the Nordschleife, beating his team mate Mark Webber, who was driving an M37 (see: http://www.youtube.com/infinitieurope#p/a/f/1/KJ1ca9Wu7E4).
The Infiniti hybrid sedan has actually set a new benchmark in power and efficiency.
Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid system mates a 306 PS 3.5-liter V6 with a single electric motor, at 68 PS one of the most powerful of any hybrid, in a two-clutch layout that maximises performance and efficiency and ensures silent, emissions-free running is utilised at every opportunity. With advanced regenerative braking and a high output Lithium-ion battery, the electric motor alone can power the M35h at speeds as high as 100 km/h, extending the hybrid advantage from city streets to the open road. Tests have shown that in mixed driving, the infiniti M35h is able to drive in electric-only mode for as much as 50% of the time.
In recognition of this the M35h is the first hybrid in the world to come with a standard audible pedestrian warning system. Approaching Vehicle Sound for Pedestrians (VSP) emits a pleasing, non-intrusive sound that varies in pitch and volume at vehicle speeds up to 30 km/h.
At higher speeds on open roads the M35h’s no-compromise nature means 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 5.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 250 km/h. With 5.7 l/100km on the official extra urban cycle, the M35h promises owners exceptional cruising economy and a touring range of up to around 1.200 kms. Despite its high performance, the Infiniti M35h’s official combined consumption of 7.0 l/100km is matched by a tax-saving 162g/km of CO2.
Economy aids fitted as standard to the pioneering hybrid include an eco setting in the Infiniti Drive Mode Selector. As well as changing throttle response and transmission mapping, for earlier gear changes, it activates Infiniti’s unique Eco Pedal. Pedal pressure is gently modulated to encourage maximum engine efficiency, the pedal pushing back when the driver is needlessly heavy with the right foot. The Eco Pedal operates in conjunction with an indicator light system that clearly shows when the car is at its economical best.
In league with its Infiniti Inspired Performance, the M35h makes no compromises in driver satisfaction by offering responsive performance throughout the speed range, poised rear-wheel drive handling and an automated 7-speed transmission.
The new Infiniti M35h is available in two versions, the GT and the GT Premium and both featuring Infiniti’s famously generous standard equipment level.
