Most of us have dreamed of having a unique insight and idea that we use to advance and innovate in our field. Yet there are only a few people who manage to make that a reality. What’s the secret to their success?
For the second year in a row, Ford Fusion has partnered with Notable to bring a series of exclusive events to Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal that provides exclusive guests with insights into what it takes to make your mark on the world. Featuring inspiring Canadian industry success stories, the #NotableFusion “Icon Series” amplifies the excitement by keeping speakers and locations secret until the day of the event.
The second Toronto event on August 12th focused on film, appropriately inviting guests to a secret location at TIFF Bell Lightbox (aka. Film Festival HQ). Interacting with speaker Jesse Wente, Head of Film Programmes at TIFF, guests gained fascinating insights into the massive film industry changes brought by the digital era, and how Wente became TIFF’s resident champion of traditional film restoration. When not engaged by Wente to participate in lively conversation about film and his passion for preservation, the crowd of young professionals was treated to a taste of TIFF with cocktails and food from festival partner OB.
On August 15th, the Icon Series took a fashionable turn in Montreal, when co-Creative Directors for Mackage Clothing, Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan, brought their design flair into the #NotableFusion mix. The crowd was surprised by a third Icon, Patrick Elfassy (VP and Legal Counsel for APP Group, the Montreal-based design and manufacturing company that launched the Mackage brand in 1999). Proving that great insight can lead to changing the landscape of an industry when paired with the perfect balance of creativity and business savvy, Mackage has grown to be one of the most popular outerwear brands in the world. Acting as the perfect backdrop for the event, the classy charm of Emerald Bar, gave the crowd of movers and shakers plenty of opportunity to engage with the Icons and enjoy delicious Moroccan eats.
On August 20th, the Icon Series made its second Vancouver stop, treating those on the exclusive guest list to an inspiring speech about the executive search industry from Top 30 Under 30, Andrew Pollard. Guests heard how Pollard started his company, The Mining Recruitment Group, at the age of 21. Considered a key advisor by the mining industry and the media, he has since become THE industry authority (now that he’s the ripe old age of 29!). The modern-classic style of The Clough Club was the ideal atmosphere for exchanging handshakes and business cards, while snacking on South American tapas and house-made drinks.
With such great surprises and secrets to industry success already gracing the Fusion Notable Icon Series stage this summer season, we can’t wait to see what the final three exclusive events have in store! Make sure to check back and find out!
