The top sponsor of the Italian national team, Fiat is today taking part in the ‘Sponsor Day’ organised by the Italian Football Federation at the Centro Tecnico Federale in Coverciano (Florence). This marks the start of the challenge facing the 23 players selected by coach Cesare Prandelli for the sports event which will take place in Brazil from 12th June to 13th July. For the occasion, on show in front of the entrance to the Centre in Coverciano will be a Fiat Panda 4×4 sporting a special livery designed by the FCA Style Centre to wish the Azzurri the very best of luck as they prepare to leave.

The event reinforces the strong link between Fiat and the Italian national team, which stems from way back in 2000 when, as a Technical Partner, the Fiat Group began to follow the Azzurri in their quest to become World Champions in Japan and Korea (2002) and in South Africa (2010), as well as at the European Championships in Austria and Switzerland (2008) and Poland and the Ukraine (2012). Today, the adventure on the pitch continues, as demonstrated by the prestigious title of Top Sponsor of the Azzurri, already preparing for the trip to Brazil, an important country for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

Also playing a key part, the fleet of Fiat vehicles which have accompanied the Italian team to official matches, friendlies and training since 2011. The same will happen in Brazil, where a fleet comprising Freemont, Linea, Doblo, Punto, Bravo, Palio and Grand Siena models will be at the disposal of the Azzurri. In addition, the Fiat brand will also figure inside “Casa Azzurri”, the nerve centre and base camp of the national squad set up in four locations: the main base in Mangaratiba (80 km south of Rio De Janeiro, near the team’s training camp) and another three cities where the Azzurri will play their first round matches (in Manaus, Recife and Natal).

Lastly, until 28th May, the web competition “La Tua Strada per Rio” (available on the website www.latuastradaperrio.it) will be giving entrants the chance to win 3 trips to follow the team to ‘Casa Azzurri’ plus 7 official Italian team kits. The competition is valid in Italy only, with entrants required to answer questions on the history of the Italian national team: scores are awarded based on correct answers and the time taken to complete the test. The top 100 entrants will be entered in a prize draw to select the 10 winners.

And so Fiat continues its footballing adventure alongside the Azzurri: two teams who share the same notions of challenge, leadership and tactics that spur them both to keep on achieving new goals and build on their successes in their respective sectors. Always representative of sporting and human values, the Italian national team has a fanbase of millions and carries a positive image of Italy all over the world. The agreement between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the FIGC demonstrates the Group’s intention to link its name to world-class sporting organisations of international repute. The agreement also allows Fiat to use the title “The Official Car of the Italian National Football Team”: this is the perfect end to a journey begun over a century ago and which has always seen Fiat and Italy working together as one for the Italian society, industry and culture.
