Ducati Motor Holding is granted ISO 14001 environmental certification

Ettore Favia (CEO TÜV Italia), Claudio Domenicali (CEO Ducati Motor Holding), ISO 14001 environmental certification The managing director of TÜV Italia, Ettore Favia, presented Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, with the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certificate during a ceremony held at the factory in Bologna. This certification regards the environmental impact of processes used at the Bologna factory, from the design and planning stage to production and testing, on road and racetrack, of the finished motorcycles. Such certification also covers Ducati Corse racing division.

ISO 14001 is an international standard which companies voluntarily adhere to. It defines the characteristics required for an Environmental Management System in order to be considered adequate for the company it serves. Ducati gained this important certification in December 2014 and received the prestigious certificate at the presentation ceremony.

This certification shows the careful attention paid by Ducati to management of activities regarding the environment and highlights the company’s commitment to a rational and optimised use of energy and water, as well as to reduced waste production.

The entire staff of Ducati Motor Holding has been involved in the development of the procedures with an up-to-date and organised vision of environmental policy management.

Founded in 1926, since 1946 Ducati has produced sports-inspired motorcycles that are characterised by high-performance engines with Desmodromic controlled distribution, innovative design and cutting-edge technology. Ducati also promotes sustainability and the ISO 14001 certification attained by the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer, including the racing division, is a result of this.

“This certification is an example of Ducati’s quest for new challenges and new performance levels, this time not on the track but in the field of environmental management,” stated Ettore Favia, managing director of TÜV Italia, “not satisfied with multiple victories on the racetrack, Ducati has taken up a different challenge and come out winning.”

“We are extremely pleased and proud of this ISO 14001 certification,” said Claudio Domenicali, managing director of Ducati Motor Holding, during the presentation ceremony, “it’s concrete proof of how seriously we take the question of sustainability here at Ducati, starting from the planning and design phase right up to the final stage where we test each of the assembled motorcycles. It’s a significant achievement and we got there just 18 months after launching the project, thanks to the work of a dedicated team and the close collaboration of many of the company’s different departments. To ensure those hard-won standards are maintained, the certification has to be renewed year by year, allowing us to demonstrate how Ducati doesn’t simply follow procedures but is committed on a daily basis to bettering the environment.”
