TORONTO and MONTREAL (Thursday, February 2, 2017) — Just two years after its concept debut, Chevrolet Canada began deliveries of the first Bolt EVs to Canadian customers, fulfilling the brand’s promise to offer a long-range electric vehicle at an affordable price.

“This is a truly satisfying moment as our customers begin to experience this ground-breaking technology and overall fun-to-drive vehicle,” said Laura Pacey, brand director for Chevrolet in Canada.  “Standard features include DC fast charger capability, Regen on Demand steering wheel paddle, a 10.2 inch colour touch screen and MyChevrolet smartphone mobile app, ensuring Canadian customers are more connected than ever.”

Bolt EVs are currently in transit to Bolt EV-certified dealerships in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec, with a planned national rollout anticipated later in 2017.

Amongst the first Canadian customers to receive the highly anticipated Bolt EV are:  

  • Samantha Mesrobian, director of corporate social responsibility at Scotiabank, who replaces a Land Rover with the Bolt EV.  Samantha purchased her Bolt EV at City Chevrolet in Toronto, Ontario.
  • Claude Michaud, past President of Quebec-based RenoDepot, now a second Chevrolet EV owner previously owned a first-generation Volt. Claude purchased his Bolt EV at Canada’s top-selling EV dealer, Bourgeois Chevrolet in Rawdon, Quebec.

“I chose the Bolt EV because I was impressed by the technology and innovation built into the car,” said Samantha Mesrobian, new Bolt EV owner. “It is the perfect car based on my current driving habits, and has a long range battery.  There is no impact to my lifestyle other than reducing my carbon footprint. And that’s what my goal was.”

Named the 2017 North American Car of the Year, the Bolt EV offers an U.S. EPA-estimated 383 kilometres of range on a full charge, enabling owners to go beyond average daily driving needs with range to spare.

The Bolt EV starts at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $42,795 (plus $1,600 freight charge and $100 air conditioning tax), but excludes tax, title, license and dealer fees. In Ontario, pricing can be as low as $30,406 after the eligible Ontario provincial incentive of $12,389. For more information on provincial incentives click here.
