Audi Summer Concerts 2013 opens

Yesterday evening Klaus Florian Vogt and Emily Magee, led by the Ingolstadt-born conductor Patrick Lange, interpreted arias and duets from the opera “Die tote Stadt” by the composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold, who spent much of his life in exile. The tenor, recent recipient of the European Culture Prize, and the American soprano also sang excerpts from Antonín Dvořák’s opera “Rusalka”.

Classical music fans will have the opportunity to enjoy a summer of music at 16 further concerts. Tickets in all categories are still available for the UNICEF benefit concert on June 30 with virtuoso violinist and UNICEF ambassador Maxim Vengerov, the concert by the Audi Youth Choir Academy and the Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble on July 7 and the guest appearance of the Salzburg Festival with the Venezuelan El Sistema orchestra.

This summer there are three events in the children’s concert series “Listen!”: Young fans of classical music will be treated to a magical extravaganza of music and dance theater in “Gustav’s Wonderful Journey” on July 6. In the company of the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt and presenter Malte Arkona, the young concert-goers will be taken on a “musical world tour” across five continents on July 21.

The traditional Classical Open Air events in Ingolstadt’s Klenzepark have now acquired cult status. On July 19 the Audi Philharmonic Wind Ensemble conducted by Christian Lombardi will be hosting an evening concert featuring famous works by such composers as Strauss, Rossini and Beethoven. July 20 is then time for ¡Viva la noche! The Cuban singer Milagros Piñera Ybaceta accompanied by the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt will be bringing Latin American rhythms to Klenzepark. Both evenings end with a fireworks display. Admission is free.

From June 27, holders of Summer Concerts tickets can take advantage of a special offer for the opening of the art exhibition “Jürgen Partenheimer. The visit” at the Audi museum mobile. For the duration of the entire festival, their tickets will gain them free admission to this unique exhibition created by Jürgen Partenheimer specifically for this space. Audi ArtExperience, the cultural program of the brand with the four rings, is thus promoting a dialog between the worlds of art and music.

Tickets for the Summer Concerts are available at all DONAUKURIER ticket offices, at the Tourist Information at Ingolstadt’s main train station, at the Ticket Service in Westpark and at the Ticketshop Karlskron. Tickets can also be ordered online at www.sommerkonzerte.de and by phone on 01805 979070 (calls charged at €0.14/min. from a landline in Germany).
