Start of the partnership between the Grand Opera Gala in support of the German AIDS Foundation and AUDI AG with Dr. Alard von Rohr, Co-Initiator Grand Opera Gala, Dr. Ulrich Heide, Managing Director German AIDS Foundation, Alfred Weiss, Markus Siebrecht, Head of Marketing Germany of AUDI AG and Co-Initiator Grand Opera Gala. Audi is intensifying its involvement in Berlin’s social and cultural life as a new partner to the Grand Opera Gala benefiting the German AIDS Foundation. The 21st Opera Gala will be held on January 10, 2015, in the renovated Deutsche Oper in Berlin.

“We are pleased to support one of Germany’s most important charity events,” said Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG. “The Berlin Opera Gala combines a cultural experience with social responsibility – a compelling basis for our partnership.”

For more than 50 years, the premium car brand has supported culture as part of the Audi ArtExperience – including world famous opera festivals such as the Salzburg Festival and the Bayreuth Festival. Audi is also active in the social sphere: With long-term partnerships in the areas of education, environment and charity – the Audi Environmental Foundation launched in 2009 is just one example of many. Audi has been involved in the fight against HIV and AIDS since last year, when it became the main sponsor of the LifeBall in Vienna.

Audi is now building upon that with its sponsorship of the Berlin Opera Gala. “The Grand Opera Gala complements our corporate citizenship efforts in Berlin, which range from the Berlinale International Film Festival to the C|O Berlin photo gallery. This demonstrates the creative spectrum of this city,” explained Wayne Griffiths, Head of Sales Germany at AUDI AG.
The 21st Grand Opera Gala in support of the German AIDS Foundation takes place on January 10, 2015, with more than 2,000 guests in the newly renovated Deutsche Oper. Under the direction of Donald Runnicles, prestigious performers such as Günther Groissböck, Marianne Crebassa, Danielle De Nies and Venera Gimadieva will join the choir and orchestra of the Deutsche Oper to interpret popular arias and extracts from operas. Berlin-based singer and entertainer Max Raabe will serve as master of ceremonies for the program.
