Acura Automobiles: Acura Announces March 2011 Sales Results

Acura’s line of light trucks continues to remain strong as the MDX luxury SUV was again its top selling vehicle. March sales of the MDX totaled 4,113 units, up 20.7 percent versus 2010 based on Daily Selling Rate* (DSR). Total light truck sales were 5,607 units, an increase of 18.1 percent. Total vehicle sales for Acura were 12,611 units, a 3.6 percent increase versus March 2010.

“While we are extremely pleased with this month’s sales performance, our foremost thoughts are with the Japanese people during this difficult time,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. “We know there will be challenges in the coming months as we continue to deal with supply chain issues resulting from the devastating earthquake in Japan, and we continue to appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.”

The RDX crossover SUV was Acura’s next best selling light truck with 1,297 units sold, a 21.9 percent increase based on DSR. Acura car sales were led by the TL performance luxury sedan with 3,995 units sold, a 1.8 percent decrease compared to March 2010 sales. The TSX sports sedan totaled 2,810 units sold, a sales decrease of 11.9 percent. Acura total car sales for January were 7,004 units, down 5.7 percent.

*The daily selling rate (DSR) is calculated with 27 selling days for both March 2011 and 26 days for March 2010.
Year-to-date sales based on 75 days for 2011 and 74 days for 2010.
