OSHAWA – General Motors of Canada’s CAMI Assembly Plant is celebrating a milestone this year with its silver anniversary. CAMI team members, family and friends were able to take a tour of the state-of-the-art facility as part of the 25th anniversary. The open house featured a walking tour of the Ingersoll, Ontario assembly plant and a collection of historical artifacts from CAMI’s rich history.
During its 25 years, CAMI has given back to the community, contributing a grand total of more than $6.8 million to the United Way.
“We are excited to be able to open our doors and showcase our great facility,” said Les Bogar, Plant Manager, CAMI Assembly Plant. “This is our opportunity to share with the community the exceptional products, the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain that we are proud to build.”
Today, the 1.7 million square feet facility houses the production of the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain. Throughout its history, the assembly plant has produced several makes of vehicles, including Chevrolet J2 Tracker, Chevrolet Metro, Pontiac Torrent, and many others. In March 2013, CAMI received a $250 million investment to install flexible body shop equipment and tooling to help convert the manufacturing facility to be able to support future production.
