— CX-5 Sees Best Sales Month Since Introduction —
TORONTO, June 3, 2013 /CNW/ – Mazda Canada announced sales for May 2013
today totaling 6,904, which represents a decrease of 2% compared to May
2012. Total year-to-date sales of 30,324 are holding steady through the
first five months of 2013.
Sales in May were led by the compact Mazda3, with 4,002 sold. Over 55%
of all Mazda3’s sold in May were equipped with the fuel-efficient
SKYACTIV Technology; SKYACTIV Technology-equipped models accounted for
64% of total vehicles sold in May.
For 2014, the CX-5 offers a more powerful 2.5L engine, which features
184 horsepower and excellent fuel economy. The new engine choice for
the CX-5 helped push sales higher, increasing the year-over-year sales
by 42% for the best sales month on record so far.
“When the CX-5 was introduced just over a year ago, it put the crossover
segment on notice with excellent fuel economy and driving dynamics,”
said Kory Koreeda, President, Mazda Canada. “Now with the new, more
powerful 2.5L engine, the CX-5 appeals to even more consumers, and it
shows with the best sales month to date.”
Sales of the all-new SKYACTIV Mazda6 continue to increase, with a 7%
gain over May 2012. The Mazda2 and MX-5 also experienced positive gains
in May, increasing 13% and 37%, respectively.
