• Strategic partnership between Volkswagen and Team Abt Schaeffler continues on
a successful track
Brazilian Lucas di Grassi has once again earned a place on the podium in the fourth running of the Formula E in Argentina. The driver for Team Abt Schaeffler and strategic partner Volkswagen finished the race through the city of Buenos Aires in third place keeping him in the hunt for a series victory.
One victory, two second places and a third place – these are the results so far for Lucas di Grassi after four races in the 2015/2016 season of Formula E.
The 31 year old South American started in seventh position in the race through the capital of Argentina and quickly moved up a couple of positions. A relatively late safety car phase brought his direct competitor Sébastien Buemi back within striking distance. After the re-start, the board leader from Switzerland exploited the situation for an overtaking manoeuvre.
Lucas di Grassi, now trailing board leader Sébastien Buemi by four points, will be travelling to Mexico City for the fifth race of the season on March 12. In the team rankings, the only German team in the Formula E field is also in second place.
The Volkswagen brand is participating as a strategic partner of Team Abt Schaeffler in the 2015/2016 season of Formula E. The race series for formula cars with an electric motor is being run on city courses worldwide. ABT Sportsline and Volkswagen have enjoyed a successful partnership over many years. Sustainable concepts have played an important role here. For instance, the Scirocco R-Cup with its biogas-powered vehicles was run from 2011 to 2014 as the world’s most eco-friendly manufacturers cup. Volkswagen offers the largest product range of electrified drive systems, and it will be further expanding it in the future. Along with the all-electric e-up! (1) and e-Golf (2) models the range also includes the Golf GTE (3) and Passat GTE (4) plug-in hybrids.
