TORONTO (Tuesday, November 24, 2015) – Today Chevrolet was recognized by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC), naming the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado “Best New Pickup” in Canada.
“We’re honoured that AJAC has recognized the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Silverado as the best new pickup in Canada,” said Joe De Stefano, Chevrolet Truck Brand Manager. “This award is testament that the Silverado builds on Chevy Trucks’ legacy of dependability with a dramatic new design, advanced connectivity and enhanced customer-focused technologies that make Chevrolet the fastest growing pick-up truck brand in Canada.”
To accurately determine segment winners, the Automobile Journalist Association of Canada organizes an annual TestFest event that was held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in October. Over 80 respected member journalists drive entries back-to-back on a series of drive routes that consist of a variety of roads that mimic the conditions that a consumer would experience in daily life. The performance of entries is independently tested on a closed course by some of the world’s top test drivers, using state-of-the-art data recording instruments. Both subjective and objective scores are combined to determine which vehicle in each category has the greatest overall scores in the marketplace.
The Silverado is the most dependable, longest-lasting family of full-size pickups, with high-strength steel construction backed by proven V-8 power and efficiency. The 2016 model offers new front-end designs with a bolder, more sculpted appearance reflecting the underlying strength of the Silverado’s high-strength steel construction, which helps provide the capability customers need and the value of low-cost ownership they count on. Powerful, efficient V-8 engines are an integral part of the Silverado’s capability and use advanced technologies such as direct injection, Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) and continuously variable valve timing to offer the best V-8 fuel economy ever in a pickup –10.4 L/100km in 5.3L models – and the most powerful V-8 in a light-duty truck: 420 horsepower (313 kW) from the available 6.2L engine.
