Nissan: Nissan-powered ESM takes second at Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Nissan engine customer team ESM scored its best result to date in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship last weekend with Ryan Dalziel and Scott Sharp finishing second in the prestigious Long Beach Grand Prix.

The duo came within three laps of victory on the street circuit, but a lapped car held up Dalziel who had taken over the lead with 20 minutes to go.

Clever pit strategy allowed the Scotsman to jump to the lead on the final round of stops when the team elected not to change tires.

The team’s run at the front wasn’t just clever work in the pits. Dalziel also set the fastest lap of the race in the Nissan-powered Onroak Dpi.

“All around, it is a good result. If we came in this weekend thinking we were going to lead laps, be competitive and finish second, we would have been thrilled,” Dalziel said. “We did everything we could do. The car was excellent and strategy was perfect. I feel disappointed, but we will take second.”
