Nissan: CRG to enter a Nissan Altima Coupe in the upcoming IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race at Watkins Glen

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – CRG, LLC is proud to announce that it will be entering a Nissan Altima Coupe in the upcoming IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race at Watkins Glen International Raceway on July 2 for the fourth round of the 2016 season.

After the first three rounds of the season, CRG and drivers Sarah Cattaneo and Owen Trinkler are each in fifth place in the Team and Drivers Street Tuner (ST) Class Championship Points standings respectfully, which includes their impressive win at Sebring International Raceway in March.

CRG principle Joe Cattaneo explains the change: “The team had an opportunity to bring Nissan back to the Continental Tire series, increasing the number of manufacturers participating, which will help broaden the spectator appeal and class competition. Our success with Honda and the support we’ve received from Jeff Barrow, Manager Motorsports-Commercial Division, and Lee Niffenegger at Honda Performance Development was excellent. Honda will continue to be a tough competitor with excellent teams running the Honda Civic Si. However, the allure of bringing back a top manufacturer into the series after the cars sat out the 2015 season was just too tempting. Hopefully, we can apply all of the front-wheel drive knowledge that we have to the Nissan and are excited to see how the car stacks up against the intense Continental Tire ST class competition at Watkins Glen and throughout the remainder of the season.”

Richard Kulach, Motorsports Marketing Communications manager for Nissan North America said: “Nissan is pleased that CRG will campaign a Nissan in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge this year. We are confident their decision to campaign the Altima will further contribute to successful seasons for CRG and Nissan Motorsports.”

The Nissan Altima Coupe that CRG will campaign was previously run by the popular Skull Candy team in 2013-14.  Skull Candy participated in a different series in 2015.  Look for the Nissan Altima to have the same fuchsia/black livery that was run by the team as their trademark with continued support from I Do Borrow/AC Properties.
