MONTREAL (Thursday, January 19, 2017) – Today Chevrolet Canada introduced the Canadian-made, next-generation 2018 Equinox at the Montreal International Auto Show. Arriving in Chevrolet dealers this spring, Equinox is one of four all-new or updated SUVs from Chevrolet within a year, joining the redesigned Trax, all-new and game-changing Bolt EV and the recently revealed all-new 2018 Traverse, further strengthening the brand’s crossover and SUV lineup.

“The next-generation Equinox continues the transformation of the Chevrolet product portfolio and nowhere is that more important than right here in Quebec with retail sales up – 21 per cent per cent in 2016 and by the end of this year, 95 per cent of our lineup will be less than two years old,” said Steve Flamand, GM Canada regional director for sales, service and marketing.  “Additionally, our long-term commitment to electrification is delivering results with Volt retail sales up 133 per cent and our first Bolt EV customer deliveries taking place – later this month. Chevrolet continues to offer more green, plug-in EV choices to Quebecers than any other manufacturer.”

The next-generation 2018 Chevrolet Equinox will start at $26,995 (includes freight and air conditioning tax) while offering an impressive list of standard features, including: Remote Start, Heated Front Seats, Push Button Start, Keyless Access, 7” MyLink Screen, Rearview Camera, Apple Car Play and Android Auto Compatibility, OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi and Teen Driver technology to help encourage safe driving with young adults.

The 2018 Equinox will offer three turbocharged engines — including the segment’s first turbo-diesel — providing customers more choices when it comes to performance, efficiency and capability. The standard 1.5L engine will be available at launch, with the 2.0L Turbo and diesel options available in the second quarter of 2017.

Fast Fact:

The Diesel Exhaust Fluid or DEF System is an integral part of the diesel-operated engine, treating the exhaust gases to improve emissions. Design, testing and integration of the system on the new Chevrolet Equinox was executed by the Engineering team at the Canadian Technical Centre in Oshawa, Ontario.
