AUDI AG: double-digit sales growth again in April

“With the strong month in April we are continuing the double-digit growth from the first quarter and continue to exceed our own targets,” says Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales at AUDI AG. “Global demand is developing very positively for Audi especially in the compact segment and for the full-size models . Thus we are strengthening our market position at both ends of the four rings’ portfolio.”

The 15,542 units of the compact SUV Q3* delivered to customers in April represent a 29.3 percent increase. Sales figures for the new A3 family*, which is gradually being launched in the international markets, rose even more, growing 44.4 percent to 25,766 units. The full-size models A6*, A7 Sportback*, Q7* and A8* also performed positively without exception year-on-year, achieving combined growth of 9.1 percent. The A6 Avant*, sales of which climbed by 21.0 percent to 4,934 cars, proved especially popular among Audi’s top models. The brand’s top-selling station wagon model, the A4 Avant*, saw substantial growth of 7.5 percent with 7,667 deliveries.

In Europe, the A4* and A6 went on sale as highly efficient ultra models in the spring, following in the footsteps of the A3. All three model lines played a significant role in the sales growth of 8.6 percent in April to around 71,150 cars
in the region. Audi once again increased sales substantially in the United Kingdom by delivering 12,630 cars – 23.8 percent more than in April 2013. Belgium (+26.1% to 3,553 cars) was another European core market that provided high double-digit growth for Audi last month. In the German domestic market, the four rings continued the success of the previous months, increasing sales by 8.9 percent to 25,503 vehicles. In what remains a challenging economic climate, Audi also managed to maintain the positive trend in Italy (+8.9% to 4,270 cars) and Spain (+4.4% to 3,541 cars).

For Audi of America, April was dominated by the launch of the A3 Sedan in the United States. From the fall, Audi will also offer the important model as a TDI clean diesel and thus, together with the A3 Sportback TDI* announced for 2015, expand the broadest diesel model range in the U.S. premium segment even further. Among the full-size models, the A7 in particular proved very successful most recently: 816 units were sold in April, 26.5 percent more than one year ago in its most important sales market. Overall, Audi’s U.S. sales increased by 19.0 percent in the past month to 15,653 cars.

In China, the first members of the new A3 family made their debut in dealerships in March in the form of the Sportback and Sedan. In addition, demand in particular for SUVs drove the increase in sales for Audi of 16.8 percent to 45,216 cars in April. The 16,910 units of the Q models* sold represent a 43.3 percent increase over the figure for April 2013. The monthly figure for the Q7 full-size SUV increased by 25.6 percent – sales of the model in China have jumped by 79.0 percent since January.
